Absinthe continues to grow in popularity, at least here in San Francisco. I was down in the mission somewhere by 16th and Valencia when I decided to find a nice little dive bar to stop in to. I had an hour to kill before a show I was going to was starting. The bar had a great selection of beers and drinks that are pretty rare, local, and delicious.

I was pretty bored so I was doing some hardcore people watching and scanning their drink selections when I saw something strange.

Absinthe Finally at My Local Mart and Package Store

The other day my girlfriend and I were buying some booze in preparation for Bay 2 Breakers in San Francisco when I noticed that that there was some absinthe behind the clerk. Things sure move fast when hard alcohol is involved.

What caught my attention is the hypnotic eyes of Lucid Absinthe. The clerk told me it was $80 dollars and has been selling like hotcakes. I could not believe that BS because I know you can get it from Morrell Wines which I link to. Stupid people are gonna keep getting ripped off.

In addition they had some small “nippers” of absinthe, but it did not look like anything legit. Probably some vodka with green dye in it to make it look like the real deal.

Of course I do not believe everything I read, but according to Yahoo the proof behind the tale of absinthe making people go mad is strictly based on the proof of the liquor. If this is true my high school days of drinking Grain alcohol should have rendered me insane.
